The Borough is rolling out a new program called Fort Lee Friends.

We have found that many residents in town are looking for someone to talk to. As of today, volunteers in town will be available for anyone who needs to hear a friendly, supportive voice. These volunteers range from young, single adults to parents with small children to older residents who live alone. We are human and during times like these, people are just looking for a light chat or conversation. Maybe you are concerned, or lonely, or really just want to chat about what's good to watch on TV - we are in this together and we are all feeling a lot of the same emotions. This is not about going to the supermarket or running errands - don't worry, we have volunteers for that, too. This is about conversation and making a human connection.

If you or someone you know is in need of a friendly voice, please call the Fort Lee Call Center at 201-592-3500 x1700 and tell them you want to speak to a Fort Lee Friend. The call will be forwarded to an available "Friend" who has volunteered because they want to help fellow citizens feel comfortable and at ease.

We have always prided ourselves in being a close and caring community, and we feel that this service will help many get through this difficult time.
