2021 Tennis/Pickleball Courts Rules and Regulations
The tennis/pickleball courts are now open!
Please see below the rules and regulations for the courts, which are subject to change as further State guidelines and Executive Orders are released. We ask for your cooperation during these challenging times.
1.All players must abide by current guidelines set forth by the CDC and New Jersey Department of Health as well as all Executive Orders signed into law by the State of NJ and rules set forth by the Borough of Fort Lee.
2.All players must be Fort Lee residents and must show proof of residency and a photo ID each time they play (eg: Current driver’s license, Community Center ID, current Fort Lee High School picture ID, lease, deed, property tax bill, cancelled rent check, etc.)
3.Players must first sign in with the attendant, who will be stationed behind the Recreation Center near the double doors. The attendant will check residency and assign a court to players.
4.Masks covering nose and mouth must be worn by players while signing in. They may be removed once they enter the court to play.
5.Singles and Doubles play permitted on all courts. A maximum of four (4) people permitted on any court (including sidelines) at any time.
6.Hours of play – Monday through Sunday, weather permitting, from 8am-8pm or dusk (whichever comes first). Additional hours will be added in the near future.
7.Playing time is limited to one (1) hour.The one hour time begins when the court is given out to the first person requesting the court regardless of whether his/her fellow players are present.
8. Players may not succeed themselves on another court until those waiting have had an opportunity to play.
9.Private and/or group instruction, unless sponsored by the Fort Lee Recreation Department, are strictly prohibited. Violators, instructor and student(s), will lose court privileges.
10.No coolers or food are allowed on courts. (Plastic water bottles are permitted)
11.Adults 18 years of age and older have priority of court use on weekends and after 5pm during the week.
12.Children ages 12 and under will not be allowed on courts without an adult.
13.Shirts and proper attire must be worn at all times. Only tennis shoes or sneakers are permitted on courts.
14.Court usage is limited to tennis and pickleball only.
15.Smoking is prohibited in all Fort Lee Parks.
16.Bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, etc. are not permitted on courts.
17.Dogs and pets are prohibited in the park (with the exception of the Fort Lee Dog Park).
18.Physical and verbal abuse of others is prohibited as are loud, violent and obscene language and disorderly or lewd conduct.
19.Any injuries should be reported immediately to the attendant on duty.
20.Currently, the Recreation Center is closed. Portajons will be available for use and are sanitized daily.
21.Use of the wall ball court is limited to tennis and pickleball only.
22.The Recreation Department’s authorized representatives have the right to eject any player for failure to comply with the above mentioned rules.
