ABOUT THE FORT LEE PARKING AUTHORITY
The Fort Lee Parking Authority is a statutory parking agency, established in 1954 by the Fort Lee Mayor and Council under N.J.S. 40:11A. The Borough then had a population of approximately 16,000, as compared to the present population estimated at 38,000. The Parking Authority started with five Commissioners.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Parking Authority of the Borough of Fort Lee is dedicated to promoting the free flow of traffic by providing, managing, and maintaining public street parking; providing the construction of off street parking lots and facilities to relieve traffic congestion that are clean, safe, and affordable. All established parking offers a variety of payment options for the convenience of the general public.
The Parking Authority is committed to providing, managing and maintaining our residents with a leading edge residential parking program; a busing service that affords seniors and other residents the opportunity to be transported to the local ferry landing; medical appointments; super market shopping and mall trips. The Parking Authority is an integral part of all Emergency Management services throughout Fort Lee.
Community Involvement
Today, the Parking Authority is involved not only in parking, but over the years at the request of Borough Councils also agreed to:
Provide bus transportation to seniors
Provide non-emergency medical transportation
Provide a main street shuttle for everyone
Provide a ferry shuttle service
Develop and operate a Residential Parking Program
Administer the Borough Street Sweeping Program
Further, it established small off-street parking lots, handicap parking spaces, and is an integral part of the Borough’s Emergency Management Team. All of its services are provided to benefit Fort Lee’s residents and businesses.
