A lifelong resident of Fort Lee, Joseph Cervieri has served on Fort Lee's City Council since 1998 and served as Council President in 2012.
A real estate agent and financial advisor with experience in both institutional and non-institutional environments, Cervieri has managed brokerages including Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, Banque IndoSuez and Bankers Trust Company. In 1993, he founded his own firm, JCC Realty International, Inc., a boutique real estate brokerage and investment advisory company providing investment advice to institutions, endowments and high net-worth domestic and international individuals and companies for investments throughout the continental United States.
Joe believes his extensive financial experience in the institutional private sector has aided him tremendously in the council. His work with international investment banks and pension funds coupled with his small business ownership and fiduciary knowledge, he can assure that government services are delivered to the citizens at the best possible cost to taxpayers. Over the past 20 years, his integral contributions have included acquisitions, planning and development of the Jack Alter Community Center, the Police Department facility, the Building/Fire Prevention facility, and the 3.3 acre Department of Public Works site.
Passionately involved in the Community, Cervieri currently sits on the Boards of the Fort Lee Democrats, where he serves as chairman, and is also the president of the Grosvenor Square at Kensington IV Board, where he's a resident. In the past, he has been a member of the Eastern Bergen County Board of Realtors and the Board of Directors for the Atrium Palace Condominium Association.
The Councilman is very proud of his family connection to the Borough. His grandfather, John A. Cervieri, opened his real estate, insurance and travel agencies at the foot of the George Washington Bridge in 1931, coinciding with the opening of the bridge. He also built the first high-rise building in town, which still stands at 1450 Palisade Avenue. Additionally, in 1963, his father, along with two partners formed Triangle Film Laboratories. Joe strongly believes the diversity of our community and the rich history are a couple of the town's greatest assets, making us one of the most progressive and innovative communities in the country.
Cervieri received his Bachelor of the Arts degree in Economics Cum Laude from Boston College. He is married to his wife and childhood sweetheart, Joann Hein, also a third generation Fort Lee resident, and they love spending time with his two dogs.
