Each member of the business and industrial community must file either a recycling tonnage form or, should the business recycle privately, an exemption form and a recycling tonnage form twice a year. Forms may be obtained by contacting the Recycling Coordinator at 201-592-3632.
Residential recyclables are collected by districts each month as indicated:*

The following materials are required to be recycled:
- Newspapers
- Cardboard
- Glass: excluding plate glass and dishes - including bottles and jars
- Aluminum and tin cans
- Magazines
- Plastic Bottles
- White Goods: including household items such as washing machines, refrigerators, stoves, heaters, and other appliances
Construction materials, including bathtubs, sinks and toilets, are not collection items. Residents need to make their on arrangements for pick-up of these items. Furniture is picked up as part of the regular garbage collection. The contractor will take up to two furniture items on the second garbage pick-up of each week. All recyclables and garbage MUST be curbside by 6:00 AM of the scheduled day of pick-up.
Pickup Regulations
Aluminum, glass, tin & plastic containers must be emptied and rinsed.
If, due to unforeseen condition or holidays, your recyclables are not picked up on the scheduled day, they will be picked up early on the following day.
Newspapers, magazines, and cardboard must be bundled.
Glass and aluminum should be placed together in reusable containers and placed at the curb. Glass should not be broken. White goods, as defined, cannot be placed curbside for collection unless arrangements have first been made with the Recycling Coordinator. There is no cost for pickup of these items. Arrangements for pickup should be made with the Recycling Department at 201-592-3634.
