Borough of Fort Lee 2015 Request for Qualifications

Request for Qualifications

The Borough of Fort Lee (the “Borough”) is soliciting Qualification Statements from interested persons and/or firms for the provision of the services listed below. Through a Request for Qualifications (“RFQ”) process, persons and/or firms interested in assisting the Borough with the provision of such services must prepare and submit a Qualification Statement in accordance with the procedure and schedule in any particular RFQ. The Borough will review Qualification Statements only from those firms that submit a Qualification Statement which includes all the information required to be included as described (in the sole judgment of the Borough). The Borough intends to qualify a person(s) and/or firm(s) that (a) possesses  the professional, financial and administrative capabilities to provide the proposed services, and (b) agrees and meets the terms and conditions determined by the Borough that provide the greatest benefit to the taxpayers of the Borough.

Mayor Mark Sokolich and Jonathan O'Connor

Fort Lee recognizes Jonathan O'Connor

At the November 13, 2014 Borough of Fort Lee Council meeting, Mayor Mark Sokolich and the Borough of Fort Lee Council presented a Certificate of Recognition to Jonathan O'Connor.

On October 15, 2014 Jonathan, an employee at the Richard A. Nest Senior Citizens Center, provided immediate life saving care to a fellow Borough employee. The Certificate presented by the Mayor and Council read as follows:

Presented in appreciation, for his prompt actions where he unselfishly rendered aid and assistance to a fellow Borough employee that resulted in the saving of a life.

"His actions are a reflection of the type of person he is," Mayor Mark Sokolich said. The Mayor also stated, "If not for his prompt response, this situation would have escalated and would have resulted in the loss of a life. We couldn't be prouder of Jonathan and are pleased that he is a member of the Fort Lee family."

Jonathan's friends and family, as well as staff from the Senior Center were present to acknowledge his actions.

Cancellation of Planning Board meeting scheduled for November 17, 2014

PLEASE BE ADVISED that the regular public meeting of the Fort Lee Planning Board scheduled for Monday, November 17, 2014 at 7:30 P.M. is being canceled due to lack of agenda.

The next regular public meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 1, 2014 at 7:30 P.M. All meetings are held in Council Chambers, Fort Lee Municipal Building, 309 Main St., Fort Lee, New Jersey.

Punch and Pie Night 2014

"Punch & Pie Night" - November 22, 2014

The Fort Lee Historical Society is hosting a November 22nd fundraiser at the historic Kearney House at the Alpine Boat Basin of the Palisade Interstate Park off exit 2 of the PIP. The program starts at 7 PM and includes a living history program in a tavern that dates back to before the American Revolution. Palisade Interstate Park historic interpreter Eric Nelsen and bios colleagues will wear period clothing and tell stories of life in Fort Lee in 1776. Troubadour Thaddeus MacGregor will play music if the era. Punch and pie will reserved. Tickets are $30 and seating is limited to the first 25. All proceeds go towards the Fort Lee Historical Society. Washington's Retreat 2014

Reenactment of General Washington's 1776 Retreat to Victory on November 22, 2014

The Borough of Fort Lee, the Palisade Interstate Park, the Fort Lee Historical Society, the Fort Lee Historic Preservation Commission, and the Fort Lee Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs sponsor the annual Retreat to Victory. On Saturday, November 22nd at 11:30 AM the Brigade of the American Revolution will assemble at the Fort Lee Historic Park (Hudson Terrace and Bruce Reynolds Boulevard) and exit the park to retrace General George Washington's footsteps up Main Street. On November 20, 1776, General Washington led 3,000 of his troops up Main Street to escape British capture. Included in that group of soldiers was patriot and writer Thomas Paine who in his American Crisis detailed this event as the times that tried men's souls.

The public is encouraged to park their cars at the Fort Lee Historic Park no later than 11:15 AM on November 22nd and join the  Revolutionary War reenactors on a short march to Fort Lee's Monument Park on Palisade and Parker Avenues. There will be a ceremony at Monument Park that will include a musket fire salute. Following the ceremony there will be free donuts and hot cider at the adjacent Fort Lee Museum courtesy of the Fort Lee Historical Society. Seton Hall exhibit covers Fort Lee film history

The Walsh Gallery of Seton Hall University Presents: A Celluloid Story - New Jersey’s Filmmaking History
Monday November 3 – Friday December 12, 2014 at Walsh Gallery - Seton Hall University

This exhibit runs from Monday, November 3rd - Friday, December 12, 2014 at The Walsh Gallery at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ (400 South Orange Ave.). The exhibit highlights the birth of American cinema in New Jersey and Fort Lee, the first American film town - the period covered is from 1890-1920 and the exhibit is in honor of New Jersey's 350th Anniversary. The opening reception is on November 6th from 5-8pm and a special event is being held on Monday, November 17th, 6:30 - 8pm "Romancing the Reels" which is a special presentation from Fort Lee Film Commission member Professor Richard Koszarski and the program includes a screening of the 1916 Fort Lee produced film "A Reckless Romeo" at the Art Center 104, Seton Hall University.
