Fort Lee named one of the safest cities in New Jersey
Fort Lee has been named one of the safest cities in New Jersey according to SafeWise. The company reviewed data from the most recent FBI Crime in the U.S. Report, along with its own comprehensive investigation and created an all-inclusive list of the 50 safest cities in New Jersey, with 10,000 residents or more.
This is the information on Fort Lee from the company's website: "Fort Lee is a quintessential all-American community that's earning kudos for its crime fighting accomplishments. Recently, two Fort Lee police officers, Carlos Cabrera and Tom Keelen, received awards for their efforts in combating drunk driving. With officers like these keeping the street of Fort Lee safe, it's easy to see why the community's crime rate is notably low. Zika Virus information
Zika is caused by a virus that is spread to people through the bite of an infected Aedes species mosquito. Since 2015 Zika has been identified in several countries and territories including Central and South America, Mexico, the Caribbean, Africa, and the Pacific Islands. All current cases of Zika are travel-associated meaning that a person with Zika became infected outside the U.S. in an area with ongoing Zika transmission and then traveled to the U.S. There is no known local transmission of Zika in New Jersey, which means that mosquitos in our area have not been infected with Zika virus. There have also been some reported cases of sexual transmission of Zika by a man to his sex partners.

Mayor's Message - March 2016
It is not often that a municipality is in a position to boast the opening of a new public park...especially a municipality in East Bergen County. The availability of land and the costs of acquisition alone pose insurmountable challenge to most municipalities. Fort Lee is the exception!!! In the very near future, Fort Lee will proudly add 3 additional public parks to its growing inventory of open space.
