Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich Endorses Governor Phil Murphy's 2019 Budget

“On behalf of the entire Fort Lee community, I provide my enthusiastic support and endorsement of the 2019 Budget presented by Governor Murphy on March 12, 2018. The priorities set forth in Governor Murphy’s budget come as no surprise to our community, as Governor Murphy had always ensured all New Jerseyans that his budget would focus on helping and expanding the middle class, the promotion of economic growth and a commitment to New Jersey families. Governor Murphy’s commitment to education through increasing Pre-K funding and providing assistance through programs for recent high school graduates and adults is not only inspiring but is precisely what the Governor promised he would do during his campaign. This budget’s commitment to economic growth through programs such as increased funding to New Jersey Transit, record breaking contribution to our State Capital Program and a commitment for a phased-in increase in the statewide minimum wage will serve as a catalyst to allow New Jersey to become a leader in economic growth and not an example of poor economic mismanagement. This comprehensive budget will serve to encourage investment in our State and sends a clear and concise message that if you are an existing resident of New Jersey or thinking about moving here, we have a Governor that delivers on his promises and ‘has your back.’ I encourage all municipalities in Bergen County to join Fort Lee in supporting this budget and extend my sincere appreciation to Governor Murphy and his staff on behalf of our 40,000 residents for doing exactly what he promised he would do…encourage investment, increase opportunity for all and economic growth through progressive initiatives.”
